JOINT PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANN ARBOR—LPGA Volvik Championship Tournament Director, Keith Karbo, announced today (March 20) that Christian Parker has joined the tournament staff and will concentrate on building additional significant corporate partnerships while advising future event planning. Ann Arbor’s third annual professional golf event will once again take place at Travis Pointe Country Club, May 21-27.
“We’ve been fortunate to build our event management team with talented individuals who are forward-thinking, creative and demonstrate high integrity,” said Karbo. “Chris shares those traits, and his experience will positively affect our future growth.”
Parker is an industry veteran in the sports world. The ’97 Sports Management graduate from the University of Michigan has been involved in sports at a high level since graduation. His resume includes roles as Vice President of Business Development for the Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports and Entertainment, EVP / Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League, and Senior Vice President for Premier Partnerships (Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago) to name a few. He began his career with the NHL’s San Jose Sharks / Silicon Valley Sports and Entertainment and recently returned to Ann Arbor where he serves as Managing Director of The New Directions Group, LLC, a boutique consulting firm.
“I am very excited to join the team at the LPGA Volvik Championship,” said Parker. “Ann Arbor is my hometown and I look forward to bringing my expertise and relationships to make this a “must do” event every year.
“You don’t have to be a huge golf fan to appreciate how personalized and enjoyable the LPGA and the Volvik Championship are for fans and partners alike,” added Parker. “Every part of the tournament is up close and accessible, and that creates a tremendous value and experience!”
“This tournament has been embraced in our area from the start, and we expect to grow and evolve as a best-in-class sports marketing example,” said Karbo. “I’m confident Chris will help us do just that.”
